Adopt-A-Student Program

The W.E. Foundation Adopt-A-Student Program was originated to give young at-risk women attending college a strong and positive support system and financial assistance needed for costly college expenses.

The Adopt- A Student program offers scholarships, financial
assistance, mentoring and support, and community stewardship.

The purpose of this program is to instill the importance of education, self awareness and growth, and offer encouragement in the pursuit of dream.

Must complete and submit application to be eligible for program.

Program criteria:

1. Must be a High School Graduate
2. Will be attending a 4-year college or university in North Carolina
3. Must meet (1) one of the following criteria:   • 1st generation college student• Low Family Income• Social Services Custody of Department of• Parents are Deceased or Incarcerated

Participants must reside in Mecklenburg County or surrounding counties.

 Coming up 2009!- The Million Book Challenge!

The 2009 Million Book Challenge is a project formulated improve the literacy rate among children and youth  in urban, rural and low-income neighborhoods. This project will assist in breaking    the cycle of poverty and illiteracy by increasing the availability of resources to children and their families.

Our goal is to raise a million books ( new and used ) through community partnerships and donations to provide to children and youth that may not have access to resources to buy books and reading literature.  For more information contact Asha Jones at 704-363-4256.
